Rotarian, Laurie Osborne has been kept busy sorting, cataloguing and adding items to the Stirling Rotary online Christmas auction website. The tenth annual auction goes ‘live’ at 5:00 p.m. Friday Dec. 1 and runs until noon, Friday Dec. 10 and features an amazing line-up of generously donated gift items just in time for some early Christmas shopping. Pictured here are just a few of those items up for bid this year. All proceeds will support the Stirling Community Cupboard (Food Bank) and the Christmas Food & Toy Drive.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships.

STIRLING – It was a challenging project that has taken a few years of hard work, dedication, along with wholehearted support from the community. And now, the Rotary Club of Stirling is pleased to announce the completion and the official opening of Station Park. There will be a formal, ribbon-cutting ceremony – along with a railway station Open House, to be held on site, Saturday September 30, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and all are invited to attend.

Residents of Stirling-Rawdon were able to come together for the first of free weekly dinners at an event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Stirling.

The Stirling Community Dinner saw the return of its first meal with a special BBQ at Rotary Park at 5 p.m. on September 7. After the September 7th date, there will be weekly meals every Thursday starting at 5 p.m. at St. John Anglican Church on North Street.

September is Basic Education and Literacy Month, a time for Rotary members to focus awareness on our involvement with literacy and education and recommit to finding solutions that meet needs of illiteracy and gaps in education in our own communities and internationally.

Rotary Club of Stirling member and public-school educator Kim Caron, reminded us with what Rotary is doing, what our club is doing and provided great insight into what is currently happening in today's classroom.
