Erin Spry, the Food For Learning Coordinator at Bayside High School, was our guest speaker for today who came to chat with us again this year about the food for learning program.

Erin works with a team of three and some student volunteers that assist with the program. They have had many obstacles over the years but thanks to local support and volunteers they are going strong again. They provide on average 1500 ( snacks, breakfasts and lunches per month) Breakfast is the busiest. They provide bagels, Cream cheese, yogurt etc

The grade 7/8 foods classes has also been assisting by making lunches and freezing muffins or making grilled cheese sandwiches for lunches. Great way to integrate the classes as well. Thanks to our support last year, they purchased a stainless steel food cart along with the funds going towards many full bellies.

Over Christmas, Erin was very concerned for the children that use the service everyday so she put together care packages for them including gift cards for groceries.

After an email poll went out to the club, we agreed to provide $1500 and $1500 from FOS to be split between Bayside Secondary School and Stirling Public School. We will have an update on local businesses that are going to help contribute this year as well next week.

Ryell Homes has generously agreed to match those funds dollar for dollar. We are hoping to raise over our $10,000 donation last year.
