You just never know what treasures you might discover at Stirling Rotary’s Giant Yard Sale. Pictured here are just a few of the many curious bargain-hunters browsing through a variety of items at the 2019 event. This year’s Giant Yard Sale takes place over two days at the historic railway station in the village. All are invited to shop Friday June 13 as well as Saturday June 14, from 8:00 a.m. until noon each day. All proceeds will be used to fund Stirling Rotary’s many worthwhile community projects.
STIRLING – As we enjoy the first few weeks of glorious spring weather, many of us will be otherwise occupied with a little spring-cleaning. And so as you tidy up the garage, the basement, a spare room or even a storage shed, perhaps you might consider this relatively mindless task a golden opportunity to help a worthy cause. Longtime Stirling Rotarian, and Giant Yard Sale organizer, Donna Graff explains: “We’re offering our friends and neighbours a chance to give something back to the community by donating some of their gently-used ‘treasures’ to our annual Giant Yard Sale fundraiser. And so as you go through your clutter, we’re suggesting that you might sort items in this way; things to keep, things for the dump and those items to be donated to our sale.”

The local service club will be hosting its 25th annual Giant Yard Sale – a special two-day event to be held Friday June 13 and Saturday June 14 from 8:00 a.m. until noon each day. And it all takes place, on site, at the historic Stirling railway station.

“As much as we appreciate all generous donations from our thoughtful neighbours,” added Graff, “we cannot accept exercise equipment, books, magazines, electronics, soft and large furniture, or clothes and shoes. We’re hoping to collect only those things you have no further use for but might fetch a dollar or two at our sale.”

The public is invited to drop off donated items at the railway station on Wednesday, June 11 or Thursday June 12, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm each day.

“And if absolutely necessary,” added Graff, “we will come to your home to pick up any donations you might have. Simply call Rotarian, PJ Kursell, at (416) 707-3287 to make those arrangements.”
In view of the fact that Stirling Rotary’s Giant Yard Sale will be stocked with merchandise generously donated by members of the community, it seems only fitting that all proceeds will be used to fund local Rotary club projects. For all updated information, Graff suggests a visit to the Stirling Rotary website or their Facebook page.
